Time to answer questions on the fairness of the system and blind, here goes...
1) Zero sum isnt as balanced as you think, especially as it will be with TBCs first raid instances. Karazan will have heavier weighting due to more bosses ---> More loot. Then come the problem of us having two teams with different skill levels. People will say: "Hey, I raided Karazan but I only got 15 DKP, whilst that group got better drops and got 25 DKP! This isnt fair because I did the same amount of work"
Then comes Gruul's Lair, which is like the current Onyxia. Again, Karazan will be more heavily weighted, yet has less raid members, thus distorting heavily the reflection of activity and DKP.
2) Blind bidding, imo, is needed. ESPECIALLY since we are in a raid alliance. For example, lets say Taelus stores up tons of DKP over time, then Nym who is a new raider decides to join. No matter what Nym bids, for the next 20 items Taelus can decide to outbid Nym just to spite her due to the volume of DKP she has.
However, with Blind Taelus runs a risk trying to do this. Would Nym bid? If so, how much? What if Taelus bids way higher and wastes tons of DKP on her bullying actions?
I just feel that blind keeps things on a more "need" basis. Of course, if people dont like the idea of blind I could try other methods to keep DKP fair such as a min/max, or something completely different. Im still open to comments as we wont be raiding for some time anyway, but I would ask that some faith is placed in my decisions as I have spent weeks developing this, not a random hash of ideas I wrote down in 5 minutes.
