Battle of mount Hyjal Attunement

Caverns of Time: Mount Hyjal will ship with World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade expansion retail launch. The dungeon requires 25 player raid groups. However, not everyone can enter the dungeon. This dungeon requires many pre-requisites:

1. You must be level 70

2. Complete Caverns of Time: Durnholde (Old Hillsbrad) and Complete Caverns of Time: Dark Portal (Black Morass).

3. Talk to Soridormi (Adult) - the consort of Nozdormu. You may find her roaming around the clockwork in Caverns of Time. She will give you a quest titled: The Vial's of Eternity.

However, this is no 1-2-3 immediate quest. To acquire the two vials of eternity requires the completition of many quest chains that will take months to accomplish and good gear.

4. You must complete the Cipher of Damnation quest chain in Shadowmoon Valley and the Stormspire quests in Netherstorm. The Stormspire quest chain starts in Area 52 with the Consortium Ethereal. The chain ends when Nexus-Prince Harammad sends you to A'dal with a crystal. Maybe you should have talked to Akama at the Warden's Cage in Shadowmoon Valley.

5. A'dal will give you the Arcatraz Key quest: The crystal key is divided in two halves. The first half is held by the last boss of Tempest Keep: Botanica - Splintertree. The second half is held by the last boss of Tempest Keep: Mechanar. Once you assemble the Arcatraz Key and have completed the two quest chains: Stormspire and Cipher of Damnation -- Khadgar will talk to you, asking you to talk to A'dal. A'dal will give you the Kael'Thas dungeon key chain quest. The key is named Tempest Key - for the final showdown with Prince Kael'Thas Sunstrider.

6. Brace yourself - - you need to be revered with the Sha'tar Reputation faction to obtain the Tempest Keep Heroic-Dungeon key, Revered with the Lower City to obtain the Auchenai Key to unlock the Auchindoun Dungeons in Heroic-mode, Revered with the Cenarion Expedition to unlock the Heroic-mode for Coilfang Reservoir dungeons, and Revered with Thrallmar/Honor Hold to unlock the Heroic-mode Difficulty for Hellfire Citadel dungeons. Hope you have had fun reading this far.

7. Complete Trial of the Naaru: Mercy; Trial of the Naaru: Strength; and Trial of the Naaru: Tenacity. No easy task ... for you have to complete the three trials in Heroic-mode. Trash mobs hit for 15,000 non-crit damage, no less. You have to kill Murmur in Auchindoun: Shadow Laberynth, retrieve an unused Axe of the Executioner from Hellfire Citadel: Shattered Halls, Kalithresh's Trident in Coilfang Reservoir: Steamvaults, and to rescue Millhouse Manastorm (gnome) after killing the last boss of Tempest Keep: Arcatraz. Once you have completed those four dungeons in Heroic-mode, return to A'dal and he will grant you the Tempest Key to enter Prince Kael'Thas dungeon -- which requires 25 players. Kill Kael'Thas and loot his Vial of Eternity.

8. Now you need to kill Lady Vashj and loot her Vial of Eternity. No data has been gathered concerning the requirements to enter Lady Vashj's dungeon.

9. By now you should be Friendly with the Scales of the Sands faction.

10. Now you can enter Caverns of Time: Mount Hyjal

I'm hoping that most of that can be done by suitably skilled five-man groups, rather than all being raids. WoW really needs some good, challenging small group (and solo!) content. The dungeon upgrade chain is a good start, but gief more plx.

Word out on the forums is that battle of hyjal is the hardest 25-man raid when TBC ships. Illidans black temple will be added in a patch later on when devs have finished it.

And if you look at the end of attunement chain you will find other 25-man raidbosses:

Yes, sadly enough the most important battle in the history of Azeroth will not be available to casual play(Kel'Thuzad anyone?). Atleast not very quickly.

On the bright side, other parts of Caverns are 5-mans and the all heroic mode dungeons are atm very very challenging. Also Kharazan, which some refer to ubrs( ), is going to be whole lot thougher than most imagine.

So, there will be indeed lot of though small group content. Unless blizz decides to listen to uncompetent whiners and nerf the dungeons(which is probably good business decision).

It is very hard and long(7 day reset). Drops are epic quality and you get tokens for tier 4 set.

Kharazan is the new UBRS....

I agree Gizmo, there should be more 5-man and 10-man content...
Would be cool to have a longer 5-man instance, that would save over a few days so you could come back to the instance if you didnt finish

Likening Kharazan to UBRS kind of misses the point. The whole difficulty bar has been raised, while at the same time the number of people required for dungeons reduced.

The first day Kharazan opened on beta, teams of Naxx-gimped hardcore raiders were wiping on trash. They've since got a lot better. But the place will always require complete commitment from the entire team, and the kind of coordination that doesn't exist in most Pick-up-Groups (and indeed in many guilds). In UBRS half the 5-man can be practically AFK for everything except the final boss and you'll still manage it.

While the Battle of Mount Hyjal may remain outside the reach of many players, the heroic dungeons should be perfect for people that want the challenge without the numbers. To be honest, even in non-heroic mode, some of these dungeons are quite tricky. The Dark Portal, for example, involves one running battle which lasts about 40 minutes. At level 68, at least, if one person badly screws up during the 40 minutes, you'll need to reset the whole thing and try again.

That's what I want. That's exactly what I want. I want a dungeon where some bastard can't just /follow their way through while the tank and healer work their butts off doing the instance for them. I want every member of the team to need to pull their weight. I want every single person's contribution to make a difference. I want to be able to say we just beat <Heroic 5-man End Boss X> and have it be something to be proud of.

Not really, UBRS was tough shit when WoW was released, Kharazan will probably be ezmode after a while of lvl 70 raiding too, imo ;D

Njoos, as you seem so sure about it so why not give us bit more info to support those claims? Here's few questions about UBRS that I can't answer but are relevant here:

Was UBRS thougher than now because WoW was the first MMO for most people(about 5 million minus those eq/swg/daoc/... veterans?) and few new how to play as a group? Was it because classes and their talents we're different back then? Or was it because it was nerfed to make it more accessible to wider people?

As none of us has actually been to Karazan yet, we can only repeat what we have heard others say. I (and perhaps El to degree) base my opinion beta-forums where naxx-raiders are saying early parts of Karazhan compare to late bwl and later parts of it to Naxx. While not actually having to been either of those(except TRC's drama at Razorgore) I do know that a group that can somehow manage UBRS has no business in those instances... remember how hard MC was to begin with(and it is actually a very simple instance)?.

Ofcourse comparing the difficulty to that of 40 man raids is bit odd, since major part of challenge in 40 mans comes from organization and having enough players. To my understanding only in late aq40 every single player needs to play it well or raid wipes. That kind of 40 persons playing perfectly is pretty insane. Afterall, the odds that someone makes a mistake are pretty big. But, in 10-man group such demand starts to be reasonable.

Also, if you take into account that it utilizes raid saving mechanic and has 7-day reset, you can't really compare it to the dungeon you go with pug's to get some bit better blues than other level 60 instances. Also the time it takes to clear is pretty long. While I don't have any exact numbers, one example is about 40 minutes of trash respawn clearing every time you wipe on a certain boss. Good luck taking a pug through that without someone leaving.

So, Njoos, without any of us here really having firsthand experience we can speculate as long as we like. To support your way of putting it, I have seen in beta the standard requirement of awareness in pve is rising. For example in the second instance you will learn that not moving will leave you dead pretty quick. Can you give me an example of such requirement in live wow outside raidinstances? If (heroic)5-mans require us to play aswell as in naxx today, then Karazhan will indeed be ubrs. Perhaps we are only disagreeing about semantics then?

Like said, this all is more or less speculation because the devs are still tuning the encounters. If it's like UBRS, we will all enjoy pretty graphics and easy epics. Wouldn't that be great? If not, we will get to enjoy some difficult battles that leave you with feeling of job well done.

I have been informed that the progression in TBC will go:

Karazan and Grulls Lair as starters, then progressing to all the others, with Netherstorm and Hyjal as the high points at release.

Quite a sketchy thing, but thats the impressions my beta contacts seem to have.

I agree Dara...but Blizzard wont dare make the instances too hard...so after a while Kharazan will be puged imo, just because kids and all kinds of retards play this game, and because they whine and cry on the forums when something doesnt go their way ^^


But as you said, i dont really know, no1 does....but i doubt this game will require too much skill...blizzard cant afford that

I seem to remember it being nerfed. When first released, it was tough. I think most of that came from the facts that it was the very first raid instance, a lot of people had just rushed into it without gearing up first and nobody really knew what the bosses did. A little bit may have come from all gear being lesser back then than it is now - Dire Maul wasn't in the game yet, so no tasty caster loot from there.

TRC's fuckups were a combination of taking a raid group where members were poorly geared (I could get off four or five Greater Heals before going OOM), inexperienced (I'd only done MC twice, didn't have a clue how to heal a raid or properly manage aggro) and fuckwit slackers that didn't care about the raid (at least one Hunter was AFK during one attempt). 10 man raids will be easier to organise, easier to make sure everyone knows what they're doing and take less time to gear up for.

I'd like to know how long they've been level 70. Were they all level 70? Were they still using their Tier 3 epics or are they in good level 70 dungeon blues? People tend to gear up in Strat and Scholo before trying UBRS now - the same should probably go for Kharazan
