((Right, just felt like writing up some stuff as an excuse for not being at the last ZG))
Feralas is really dark at this time of the year, reinforced by the fact that it is night.
The leaves were carried over the dark ground by the cold night-wind. A faint howl was heard from somewhere in the dark. A dark figure dashed over the ground. The figure of a huge, catlike creature, a small cloud of dust after its paws as it moved through the forest.
The creature slowed down, stopping on a hillside overlooking the tauren camp, Mojache. Galvinoth returned to his normal shape, pulling his hood down as he stood up, making sure it covered up his face. He looked over the camp for a minute or two, before dashing on in his own shape.
Not long from there, Galvinoth stopped up again, in a bushy area, once again assuming the shape of the huge, dark cat with the silver-colored back. He snug into the bushes, finding a spot with a good view of the fires nearby.
Galvinoth looked out at the fires from his bush. From here, it was obvious that it wasn’t just fires, left by travelers, but a camp, inhabited by cloaked and hooded figures. And something else…
“The legion…” Galvinoth mumbled.
He looked over his shoulder, a small rumbling in the bushes behind him. However, Galvinoth looked more awaiting than scared.
Soon, 5 or 6 other huge cats appeared behind him. Galvinoth turned around to face them, and assumed his elf form again. The other druids followed his example.
“Greetings, Captain Galvinoth” said the nearest one, bowing slightly. Galvinoth nodded at him.
“As you see, warlocks of the legion has appeared here in Feralas too, setting up camps, surely preparing assaults as so many other times the last couple of months, captain” the druid continued.
“Yes” Galvinoth simply replied, pulling his hood further down as he spoke, making sure his face was covered in shadows.
“What is the plan then, captain?” the druid said, looking at Galvinoth.
“Same as the other times… stop the assault as soon as possible, search the camps of anything of use, clues, anything to aid us in the future…”
“Yes, captain” the druid replied.
“Good luck…” Galvinoth said silently, as he rushed out of the bush and down at the camp, his brothers-in-arms in his heels.
Galvinoth waited at the top of a hill, as the druids under his command searched the camp for clues. One of them walked up to him.
“It wasn’t as bad this time, captain” the druid said, bowing as he reached Galvinoth.
“No, it wasn’t… And I’m glad… it was nothing compared to the assaults nearer to the portal… I guess they didn’t want to be found, a lot of potential power lies in Feralas, they were probably trying to assume control of it”
“Yes, I think so too, Captain” the druid said, looking out over the remains of the camp.
Another of the druids joined them on the hilltop, running all his way up there, his fist tightly closed around something.
“Ca-captain… Y-you should see this…” he said as he reached the hilltop.
“Thank you, Faldrian” Galvinoth said, as the druid handed him the item in his hand. Galvinoth turned around his hand and opened up his palm, the item resting in it, seen clearly in the moonlight:
It was a small stone, the size of a pebble, with a rune written upon it. The rune had a slightly red glow. Even though Galvinoth’s face was embraced in shadows due to the hood, fear was obviously to spot in his glowing eyes, the only part seen.
“That energy…”
“What is it, Captain?” Faldrian asked, as he looked up at Galvinoth.
“I’m not sure, Faldrian… but I’m sure you can feel the energy it’s letting out… it’s corrupted… I need to bring it to Moonglade right away. Faldrian, you’re in charge from now on. Search the area for more of them, and then report back to Moonglade”
“Yes C-Captain” Faldrian stuttered, shocked by this piece of information. “Erm… captain..?” he continued, looking at Galvinoth hesitantly.
“Yes, Faldrian?” Galvinoth, already about to leave, looked at Faldrian over his shoulder at the question.
“All these assaults and whatnot the past months… is the portal really going to open for real soon?”
A shivering silence fell over the already cold Feralas.
“Yes, Faldrian, I’m afraid it is” Galvinoth said, as he turned his head again, walking away, speeding up, turning into a cat and disappearing into the shadows.
