Kharins life began in the sleepy hills of Dun Morogh. He was found abandoned, by an elderly hunter called Brutus Tharlin. Brutus carried the infant back to his home, nestled in the hills and cared for him untill he was strong again. Brutus named the child Kharin, after his Great Grandfather and far from civilisation begain to raise the dwarf.
Brutus took on Kharin as if he was his own, and in Coldridge Valley began to teach him the ways of the hunter. His training began as soon as he could hold a rifle. Brutus taught him how to track in the snow, make poisoned gunpowder and hit a wolf between the eyes at thirty paces. His training was brutal and harsh, but neccessary as Brutus knew that soon Kharin would have to fend for himself. After a year of training Brutus left Kharin alone in Coldridge valley over night with a musket and a single bullet, it was a big risk but he knew deep down that Kharin was ready. The following morning he found Kharin nestled under a group of pine trees with a fire burning by him, perfectly fit and healthy which was more than could be said about the wolves that had attacked him!
Brutus did not only teach him the ways of the hunter, he also taught him how to skin the beasts he killed, and fashion the leather into clothes and armour that would protect him from the blistering winds of Dun Morogh. Cooking and fishing were also essential skills for Kharin to learn and also first aid, as it was easy to get wounded on a hunt.
Brutus' training was almost complete, Kharin could fight not only with his hands but weapons and he had mastered the rifle with ease. Brutus had one more subject to teach Kharin, how to tame beasts. So began Kharin's training in beast mastery. Over a weekend Brutus taught Kharin first hand how to tame beasts from the most brutal bear to the most agile of leopards. Kharin learnt quickly, however he could not find one that he wanted to spend his time with. Brutus urged him to find one but Kharin refused and took his time.
One weekend Kharin was fishing on Iceflow lake, he had caught a nice haul of brilliant smallfish for the following winter months. Whilst he fished on the lake he caught a glimpse of something in the corner of his eye. He turned to see what it was, and in the distance he saw a flicker of light in a cave some distance away. He dropped his fishing rod and picked up his rifle to go for a closer look. As he ran closer he began to hear the sound of clashing metal. Just in eyesight he saw what was happening, five trolls had cornered a huge bear and were attacking it. Around the bear lay dozens of dead trolls, it seemed the bear had put up an awesome fight but he was on his last legs. Kharin felt pity for the bear and ran closer, he took aim at the trolls and fired. The bullet soared through the air and smashed into the back of a trolls head, killing him instantly. He quickly took aim again, as the other trolls turned around and ran at him. He fired and hit a troll in the arm, fortunately it was a bullet with poisoned gun powder. The troll immediately fell to his hands and began violently throwing up and he slowly drowned in his own blood. The final three trolls were runnning right for him but he kept his cool and shot hitting them in their legs, slowing them down to a crawling pace and then one by one he shot them in the forehead. Blood scattered across the snow and Kharin ran to see the wounded bear.
However he never reached the bear, as he ran he felt a mighty thud on his head and then everything went black. Kharin awoke to find himself in a cave with trolls surrounding him. His vision was blurred and he couldnt move. In the distance he heard a distorted battle going on, but try as he might he could not move. As he lay there surrounded by trolls, he listened to the battle which grew closer and closer. Over the next few hours Kharin blacked out many times but he awoke to find the fighting was very close to him. He opened his eyes just as a titanic bear hurled himself around the corner of the cave and charged at the trolls guards. The trolls tried to fight the bear but in his rage he mauled them, throwing his claws at then and ravaging their bodies. The bear was in a bad way, his fur was covered in blood but he kept on fighting the guards and eventually he best each of them leaving the cave floor scattered with trolls corpses.
The bear walked to Kharin and picked him up with his mouth and carefully slung him over his back. Kharin blacked out again. He awoke in the bears cave where he had fought the trolls. The bear stood over Kharin untill he was strong again, and since that moment they have not been separated. Kharin and the bear journeyed back to Brutus in Coldridge Valley. Kharin entered the home nestled in the sleepyhills and fell to his knees. Brutus lay on his bed, as cold as stone. A note layed on the table ," Live Strong Kharin, your were a son to me." Kharin mourned the death of Brutus and then buried him in the Valley, where he lies to this day. Kharin then named the bear Brutus in honour of the great hunter and now Brutus and Kharin walk together.
